Looking out the window of the Amtrak (former Santa Fe) depot in San Diego, we can see a Pacific Surfliner train on the ready tracks.  Note the Santa Fe herald on the column at right.  I imagine the cafe is a nice place to watch trains.  January 7, 2002 photo by George W. Hamlin.

The Steam Train

My former neighbour Marie, one of her daughters and a bunch of grandkids at the Tungelsta commuter station waiting to get aboard the steam train. The 1136 locomotive was built in 1912.

There's a steam train museum in Nynäshamn. A few times every year they arrange a ride between Stockholm and Nynäshamn."

A BNSF coal train crosses Cottonwood Creek and heads west through mostly-abandoned Wendover, Wyoming as a GMC tow truck wastes away. A raging T-storm, seen in the distance, approaches from the north.

Here is a shot of Great Northern Trains 357 - 358 (operating between Seattle and Vancouver, B.C.) passing near Bellingham, Wash, after stopping to exchange border customs inspectors. Round-end Obs cars on both little trains.  This was back in the glory days of streamliners and shots taken from the "dutch door" of coaches (try THAT today on Amtrak!).  April 11, 1969 photo by Steve Patterson.

"Chicago Burlington & Quincy 9911A (E5A) and Nebraska Zephyr

This superb looking unit is one of the highlights of the Illinois Railroad Museum (at least in my opinion) especially when it is running along the four mile or so line belonging to the railroad museum. Today (18 July) it was running as part of the diesel weekend;"
